Prior to establishing Katalan Ltd., Alan Birkett and Kathleen Harrison-Carroll were Management Consultants who specialized in the use of experiential learning techniques, both indoor and outdoor, to enable organizations in the Public & Private Sector, to explore and utilize development opportunities.

The two directors of Katalan have gained considerable personal skills and knowledge from a wealth of opportunities during their careers.

Kathleen was extensively involved in the introduction of the assessment of management competences within the NHS, working on several publications & speaking at national seminars & conferences.

Alan was instrumental in introducing the use of outdoor experiential learning into Public Sector management development programmes.
